In this week’s O’Fallon Weekly Library Director Molly Scanlan reminds patrons of some of our free resources such as Notary Public and Voter Registration.
Molly also thanked our many hardworking Volunteers who prepare the books and media donated to the Library for book sales. Anyone interested in volunteering, simply call 618-632-3783 for more information.
The Library, as always, has some unique and enjoyable events on the calendar. The monthly Lego Club will meet , Sunday, December 3, at 2:30. Molly said the club is for all ages; listen to a story and get creative. For more information and future meeting dates, visit our website.
There’s no need to let the holiday season stress you out. Monday Meditations meets Monday, December 4, at 6:30 PM. “Come as you are, casual yoga pants or in your business attire,” Molly said. You may also consider bringing any comfort items, such as a pillow, blanket, mat and or cushion for sitting or lying on the floor to fully relax. However, chairs are provided for those who prefer to sit.
Green Cleaning 101 will meet on Wednesday, December 5, at 6:15 PM. Essential Oil expert Zoya Draper will lead a quick review of the basics of essential oils. But she will discuss how to use oils to replace the toxic chemicals in your home! She will share cleaning recipes for the home as well.
Back by popular demand on Saturday, December 9, at 9:30 AM, Katherine Murray will discuss Self Publishing for Beginners. Self-publishing has become an ever-popular method for writers to get their words out to the world at large. But for a beginner, the road from “The End” to “Available Now” can be daunting. Join us for a basic primer and checklist on self-publishing, as well as a few tips and tricks learned from experience.
Katherine Murray has been writing fiction for adults for eight years. In 2012 she signed a multi-book deal with Penguin Random House. After seven years in publishing, one hardworking agent and almost nineteen books available for sale, Katherine is ready to pass on her hard-learned lessons to up and coming writers.
Katherine’s presentation may inspire you, so stick around and join the O’Fallon Writing Group at 10:30 AM. The group provides the structure and routine of a welcoming writing community with a designated place to think, consider, explore, create, learn and teach – yes, even ‘amateurs’ have something to teach. Just come prepared to write!
