Diary of a Desk-less Librarian: Day 10 of an estimated 49
Renovations continue. This week had some fairly exciting changes as more of the old library structure is removed to make room for the new.
Our Books and Brew book club met on Monday at Global Brew to discuss Remember Me Like This by Brett Anthony Johnson. The consensus among the readers was that the main plot of the book had much in common with the case of Shawn Hornbeck, the St. Louis boy who was kidnapped and held by his captor for years. It was a difficult read for many but it lent itself to an excellent discussion. Held the 4th Monday of every month, Books and Brew book club is a non-traditional club with a relaxing atmosphere. New members are always welcome- even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book! The next meeting will be August 24th and the selection is Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.

The Monday Night Book Club also met at the library this week. This group meets on the fourth Monday of the month, at 7pm. They discuss a title and pick one for upcoming month. New people are always welcome. Currently, they are working on picking a different location for their meetings since the library space is in flux with the renovations. Their book selection for August is The Nine : Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin.
