Angry Cookie
by Laura Dockrill

National Cookie Day is December 4. If you are a fan of The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak or The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone then you will love Angry Cookie. We have all had those days where we wake up in a bad mood. Cookie wakes up in a VERY bad mood and takes it out on the reader and everyone around him. Follow Cookie through his bad day as he learns about patience, understanding and friendship in this funny and interactive book.

This book is a must read for any bacon lovers in your life. Bacon has become a celebrity and everyone loves him (except for French Toast, but French Toast doesn’t like anyone). He has become so famous that he has forgotten his old friends and his old way of life. The surprise ending made me laugh out loud (I got a lot of strange looks from people in the library). Pick this one up today and celebrate Bacon Day on December 30!

This Book is Not Good For You
by Pseudonymous Bosch

Mystery, intrigue, humor and best of all … chocolate. Everything you could want in a book. This Book Is Not Good for You is the third book in the Secret series. Cass and her friend, Max-Ernest, are at it again. In this adventure they are out to save Cass’s mom while hunting for a magical tool and defeating an evil chocolatier. Easy-peasy for these secret spies.  You will be in suspense while laughing and craving chocolate … and just like chocolate, this is a good story that is NOT good for you. There are two days in December to feed your chocolate craving – National Chocolate Covered Anything Day on December 13 and National Eat Chocolate day on December 24. Enjoy!!

The School Library Journal says, “Stick Dog, Karen, Poo-Poo, Mutt, and Stripes kick off this story in the woods, where they are trying to beat the heat by sticking to the shade. It soon becomes evident to Stick Dog, the most intelligent of the crowd, that he and his pals are in need of a stronger solution, lest they all melt. They soon spot an ice-cream truck and devise a plan to cool off.” A great book for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Big Nate books. You can read this book while eating ice cream on National Ice Cream day on December 13. Yum!

Find these books and more to celebrate December holidays in our Special Selections area and Holiday area of the Children’s Department at the library.
