OF Weekly

Library Director Molly Scanlan had a lot to share in this week’s O’Fallon Weekly – particularly those who are planning vacations.

“The Library has plenty of children’s audiobooks on CD available,” she said.  “Many have the book included so your child can read along.”  Stop by the children’s section to browse for favorites to take along on your trip.  Molly added, “Listening to audiobooks also counts toward your Summer Reading minutes!”

Special Del

We also have something for entertaining children who come to visit – a Special Delivery Bag.  “The children’s department will fill a tote with books and coloring pages to keep your guests entertained,”  Molly said.  “All you need is an O’Fallon Library card and you can send in a form on the Library website.” Once on the kid’s page, scroll down to the Parent/Teacher section and click on Special Delivery Bags.  Of course, we’ll let you know when it is ready to pick up.

Eco Tree with environment symbolsTomorrow, Friday, June 22, 10:30 AM, at Rock Springs Park, Molly said patrons of all ages can have fun, learn something new, and give back a little in the process by becoming part of the Library’s Eco Club.

Join the OFPL Eco Club and help collect litter around Rock Springs Park. Participants will examine and compare what they find and discuss how the trash might have ended up where it did. After the cleanup, there’s a 30-minute break to eat/rest under the pavilion.

After lunch, you can walk some of the trails around the park and identify and discuss the plants and trees along the trail as well as the animal habitats they provide!

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for the trail walk and cleanup. If you would like to bring a bag lunch, we will take a break to eat/snack around 12 PM. If you are able, please bring work gloves for the cleanup!
