So you think you’re pretty good at fitting puzzle pieces together? Then test your mettle and support your community by attending the Great OTHS Puzzle Race February 24. Doors open at 5:30 PM and the competition begins at 6 PM. This wholesome and family-friendly competition will support both the OTHS Library (aka Instructional Media Center or IMC) and the Community Food Bank.
Jennifer Lara, District Instructional Media Center Coordinator & Information Literacy Director, said the event is for family and friends of all ages and is a chance to put away phones and devices and have eye-to-eye contact in a fun setting.
There are only 28 tables and two have already sold. To participate download and complete this Reservation Form then mail it and a $40 check payable to OTHS to: OTHS IMC, Attn: Jennifer Lara, 600 South Smiley Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269. Forms and payment can also be dropped off at the Smiley Security desk at the main entrance.
The reservation and payment must be received by Feb. 23.
Each team of four players will race to put together a 750-piece puzzle. All team puzzles will be the same. Lara said the proceeds will be split evenly between the Community Food Bank and the high school IMC.
This fund-raiser supports IMC Enrichment Programs such as the Distinguished Speaker Series, National Law Day, and a large Technology Fair. National Law Day, is May 1, and students meet lawyers, judges, bailiffs, and assistants – experiences kids might not otherwise have, Lara said. There are also displays that help students understand important legal battles.
