Assistant Director Ryan Johnson penned this week’s column in the O’Fallon Weekly and reported that the Summer Reading Kickoff last Saturday at the Katy Cavins center was a success with the carnival games, balloon animals, and science demonstrations.
Even if you missed the kickoff, it’s not too late to register your children for the Summer Reading program, Reading By Design, through our website or here at the library.
Adults and teens also have summer reading programs as well. The Teen Summer Challenge and the Adult Summer Challenge provide opportunities to win prizes by attending events, writing book reviews and tagging us online. Winners will be randomly chosen August 1.
One event you won’t want to miss is “Designing a Website with WordPress” on Monday, June 12, at 6 PM. Ryan said this presentation will benefit anyone who wants to create an “eye-catching website to inform your audience and build your brand,” whether you’re a small business owner, freelancer, or hobbyist. Register early since space is limited.
We have a variety of fitness classes to choose from in the coming week including Yoga for Everybody at 6 PM, Wednesday, June 14, and Fusion Fit, Thursday, June 15, at 6:30. For other fitness events this month, check out our calendar.
Ryan also welcomed our future-new-neighbors, the O’Fallon Senior Villas. Construction is underway on the one and two bedroom affordable apartments for those 55 years of age and older. As an added bonus, the road that currently leads to the library will be extended behind and around the GCS Credit Union creating an additional entrance and exit to the library. Construction completion is expected in the coming year.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the O’Fallon Weekly online or at newsstands.
If you haven’t been to the public library in a while, you’ll be surprised at all the great changes and activities we have to offer.
