ICYMI – Library News & Notes, Feb 15

ofallon-weeklyThe O’Fallon Weekly article keeping the community informed about events at the library this week by Adult Services Manager, Ryan Johnson, highlighted the valuable tax preparation provided by AARP Tax Aide volunteers.  This free service is available to all, but the schedule is filling up fast so call the library (618) 632-3783 to schedule an appointment during the following times until April 18.

  • Tuesdays: 9am – 2pmaarp-tax-aide
  • Wednesdays: 9am – 2pm
  • Thursdays: 9am – 1:45pm
  • Fridays: 9am – 2pm

*You must bring a Valid Photo ID, Social Security card for themselves and each dependent, and last year’s completed Tax Returns, and proof of health insurance.

If you prefer to complete your own tax returns, visit the Tax Resource Center on our website to access links to current state and federal forms that can be downloaded and printed from any computer.  We have a limited supply of printed tax forms and instruction booklets just inside the main door if needed.

book-saleAlso, don’t miss out on our Book Sale this weekend to help the O’Fallon Library with children’s programming, buying new books and DVDs, and other beneficial library projects.

  • Saturday, February 18: 9am-4pm
  • Sunday, February 19: 1pm-4pm

As usual there will be a large selection of gently used books, DVDs and audio book CDs available at astoundingly low prices.

Tuesday, February 21, 6:30-7:30 PM:  There is a free College Financial Planning Workshop for parents of high school age students planning for college. You’ll learn about applying for financial aid, tax deductions and credits, and managing the out-of-pocket costs.  To learn more or register click here.

Saturday, February 25, We have a Pokemon Extravaganza.  Register here for either the 10:30 AM or 1:30 PM session.  Kids 5 years old and up join us for crafts, snacks, games and fun based on the Pokemon characters.
