The “Why do you love your library?” contest has ended and the four winners of the $25 Amazon gift cards have been notified.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the event! We received some excellent answers to the question, “Why do you love your library?”

Here are a few of them:

“I love the variety of programs and clubs for all ages. The staff are so helpful. It has been fun to check out music and books that I recall from childhood (to share with my son) and new items that catch our curiosity.”

“I have lived in O’Fallon since 2005. I started going to the library in hopes of finding a genre of books to interest my son. The library offered a range of books to read, a great environment to read, and an enormous amount of programs to keep my son interested in reading. My children, to this day, use the library and its resources, and have saved a lot of money and time. Personally, I have used it, pursuing my Graduate Degree. The O’Fallon Public is a wonderful place, filled with helpful people ready to assist anyone and everyone looking for a great Kid’s Program, a great school resource, a good book, a great informative seminar, a book club or a place to hang out. I love our library!”

“I love the library because everyone one is very helpful if you need help. I like the newsletter telling of coming adventures. The library has good resources available if and when you need them. I just can’t say enough good things about the library.”

“We love the O’Fallon library because of the amazing selections, opportunities, and incredible people. My son loves being able to ask the librarians his questions and they always meet him with kindness and a smile. It’s obvious the employees serve our community with joy-filled hearts. The monthly crafts and activities provided are such a huge hit in our home too! We love that the library is a safe place to ask questions, learn, and try new things (like the huge outdoor chess set!). Thank you for all that you do!”

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. 1. Fine free is incredible. I don’t feel like I’m going to be shamed or looked down upon if I have a small late fee. This change has been such a progressive and inclusive move forward and I love it! 2. My kids beg to go to the library multiple times a week! You’re rocking the children’s department with the wide variety of books, learning materials, and games. I also love the intentionality in choosing books that are windows and mirrors. It’s so helpful for children to see themselves represented in books on display as well as see into the lives of others. 3. Lastly, everyone is always so helpful and kind when anyone in my family needs assistance. The staff at O’Fallon Public Library are top notch and this is part of the reason why we choose OPL. So much love for you all!”
