Assistant Library Director Ryan Johnson reported in this week’s issue of the O’Fallon Weekly on the many varied events you can enjoy here, such as the monthly Tai Chi class, Monday, July 31, at 6:30 PM. Ryan said this practice improves physical and as well as mental balance.  Space is limited so be sure to sign up.

In addition there are a couple of free educational Medicare workshops to help clarify some of the confusing aspects of Medicare as well as the open enrollment process. Register here for the one is Thursday, Aug. 3, 6:30 PM or here for the second, identical event will be Saturday, Aug. 5, at 2 PM.

Don’t be caught unprepared for total solar eclipse on August 21.  The library is giving away 50 pairs of eclipse glass.  Enter your name for the August 14 drawing starting August 1.

In case you didn’t know, the library has 24 preloaded Nooks with over 100 titles.  There are Nooks with titles for adults, teens, and children.  Visit ofpl.info/gadgets for a complete list of nontraditional items we have available.

With July coming to a close, so are many of our summer contests.  Entries for the Adult Writing Contest is August 1 at midnight.  Drop off your entries at the library or submit via mail or email.  Details can be found at ofpl.info/writing.

Teen and Adult summer challenges are also wrapping up this month.  Deadline is July 31 at midnight.  Winners will be drawn Tuesday, August 1.  There will be some great prizes including gift cards from local businesses like Peel, Sanctuary Salon and Spa, and Fezziwig’s Marketplace.  So act fast!
