In the latest edition of the O’Fallon Weekly, the very busy Youth Services Manager, Teri Rankin, writes that while the weather outside is frightfully hot, it’s cool here in the library.
Teri reported on some upcoming events, such as the 75th birthday of the Little Golden Book – those inexpensive books you could tuck easily into a car bag or suitcase. On July 18th, the library the Workshop where kids will design their own Little Golden Books from kits that include stickers of favorite Golden Book characters provided by the publisher. Please register as space is limited.
Also, on July 19th at 6:30 PM, there will be a Book Walk – one of our yearly favorite events. It is like the traditional “cake walk,” but everyone will win free books and prizes. So much fun for the entire family! Join us at the Katy Cavins Center (308 E 5th Street, O’Fallon).

The cute factor will soar during the Preschool Dance Party, July 25, at 10:30 AM. You will not want to miss the live ukulele music and opportunity to wear a costume. Teri said, “Kids can dress up too.”
Also, School Supply Bingo will be one of the last Summer Reading Programs on July 26, at 6:30 PM. Play Bingo for treasured office supplies pencils, pens, and a notebook to welcome the upcoming school year. There will be hor d’oeuvres and beverages provided.
In other summer activities, did you know the library loans fishing poles? As Teri said to check one out if you are planning a trip to a lake or fish hatchery. And if you want someone to come with, she said just ask one of our friendly staff members, “We are always happy to go along and enjoy a day off!” Cheeky Teri!
