In case you missed it, the library’s column in the most recent O’Fallon Weekly, announced a fun celebration in the Children’s Department to celebrate the Chinese New Year January 28, at 10:30. Teri Rankin, Youth Services Manager, said the event for kids three-years-old and up “will include stories, crafts, snacks and even a visit from a dragon.”
In addition, Rankin said, “We will find out about the Chinese Zodiac and everyone will receive traditional New Year’s tokens of money (the chocolate kind) and other gifts.” Be sure to register online.
Rankin also reported that the Newbery and the Caldecott children’s book awards the will be announced January 23. The list of Ms. Rankin’s picks can be found in the Jan 4 O’Fallon Weekly O’Fallon Weekly online or in the Magazines room at the library.
In addition, Ms. Rankin provides a list of Best Read-Aloud picture books of 2016. At the top of the list is The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield, followed by Hensel and Gretel Ninja Chicks by Corey Rosen Schwartz, and Is that Wise, Pig? by Jan Thomas.
