Renovations: Painting and flooring is currently being finished as well as electricity. Glass walls and a new sliding door entry are also in the works!
By November 20th, patrons should have access to the stairs and parts of the first floor that are currently closed. By that date, much of the children’s and circulation area will be moved so that construction can be completed in the rest of the library.
We are also expecting a shipment of new furniture by the end of November so that more seating areas will be available.
The new quiet room is open! This is a no conversation or cell phone use zone for those that want a quiet space for study, reading, etc. Two areas designated for group study downstairs will soon be open as well.
The main portion of the renovation project will end by Christmas, though the full installation of help desks and self-check machines will not be done until mid-January.
Also new at the library: tutoring! SIUE students through the America Reads program are tutoring at the library. This service is free, by appointment, and for grade school age children or older. Please contact us by phone (618-632-3783) or email (reference@ofallonlibrary.org) to schedule your appointment today.
