Welcome to Owlfred’s Corner!
Each month, Owlfred gets the scoop on one of our incredible library staff members with a fun Q & A session. From coffee vs. tea debates to favorite books and surprising discoveries, this monthly feature is all about getting to know the people who make OFPL such a special place.
Get comfy and meet our spotlighted staff member!
Meet Maggie, Public Services Assistant at OFPL! You’ll find Maggie at the Circulation Desk or helping out with Adult Services—always ready with a smile and a strong coffee nearby. She’s a fiction fan, handpan enthusiast, and proud Corgi mom with dreams of turning her pup into an agility course star. Scroll down to see her adorable pup and catch a glimpse of her musical side in the handpan video!
Coffee or tea? Coffee—strong and hot!
Morning person or night owl? Morning person! There’s nothing like a quiet, early start with the whole day ahead.
Fiction or nonfiction? Fiction all the way—there’s nothing better than getting lost in a great story.
eBook or paperback? Paperback! I love the feel of a real book in my hands (and that new book smell doesn’t hurt either).
What’s your favorite part of working at OFPL? The camaraderie—it’s like being in a book club where everyone actually reads the book!
If given the choice, would you prefer to spend a day with your favorite author or your favorite fictional character, and who would that author or character be? I’d choose to spend the day with my favorite fictional character—Sherlock Holmes. I imagine it would be a whirlwind of mystery, deduction, and probably a little danger… but it’d definitely never be boring.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at OFPL? The most surprising thing I’ve learned is how much everyone is encouraged to grow, learn, and excel. There’s a real focus on supporting each other’s success.
If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be? I’d love to instantly master the skill of training my Corgi to run an agility course—preferably without getting distracted by treats or taking a nap halfway through!
What’s your go-to activity or hobby when you’re not at the library? One of my favorite hobbies is playing the handpan. It’s relaxing, meditative, and a fun way to create beautiful, rhythmic music.
Thank you for joining us in Owlfred’s Corner! We hope you enjoyed getting to know Maggie and discovering the unique talents and interests she brings to OFPL. Stay tuned for next month’s feature as we continue to highlight the amazing people who make our library such a welcoming and inspiring place. See you next time!
