One of O’Fallon’s most anticipated events is just around the corner—the Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale! From April 24-28, the O’Fallon Public Library will host this annual event, offering thousands of books, puzzles, games, vinyl records, and more—all at unbeatable prices. Whether you’re hunting for your next great read, a nostalgic classic, or a unique find, this sale has something for everyone.

But the Book Sale is more than just a shopping event—it’s a community-driven effort that supports literacy, library programs, and educational initiatives. The Friends of the O’Fallon Public Library, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, use the funds raised to enhance the library in ways that directly benefit patrons. In recent years, their contributions have helped fund the Outdoor Activity Area, the Storywalk at Thoman Park, and our local chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which delivers free books to children ages 0-5 in the 62269 zip code.

This beloved event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible volunteers who plan, organize, and run the sale. From sorting donations throughout the year to managing the checkout tables and restocking shelves during the sale, these dedicated individuals make it all happen. If you’d like to be part of this effort, visit ofpl.info and click on the Annual Book Sale banner to learn more and sign up to volunteer.

Last year’s sale saw over 3,500 shoppers across five days, with 1,016 people on day one alone—and this year promises to be just as exciting. The energy on opening morning is unlike any other day at the library, as eager readers line up outside, ready to stream in at 9 a.m. But don’t worry if you can’t make it on day one—new stock is added regularly, so there are fresh finds every day.

Beyond boosting foot traffic (last year’s sale doubled the library’s usual numbers for the week), the sale raised an incredible $15,000 to support the Friends’ ongoing work. Every purchase helps sustain the programs and services that make our library a vital part of the community.

So mark your calendars, spread the word, and join us for a week of great deals and community impact. Whether you’re shopping, volunteering, or just stopping by to soak in the excitement, the Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale is an event you won’t want to miss!
