Welcome to Owlfred’s Corner!
Each month, Owlfred gets the scoop on one of our incredible library staff members with a fun Q & A session. From coffee vs. tea debates to favorite books and surprising discoveries, this monthly feature is all about getting to know the people who make OFPL such a special place.

Get comfy and meet our spotlighted staff member!

This month, we’re thrilled to feature Cheryl! You can find her in our circulation department, where she’s always ready to assist. When she’s not busy caring for her adorable cat, Kit Kat, or capturing fantastic photos for OFPL, Cheryl loves diving into a good book. She’s also known for sharing top-notch book recommendations. Be sure to say hello next time you see her and ask for her latest book pick—you won’t be disappointed!

Coffee or tea? Coffee

Morning person or night owl? Neither…I’m kind of a midday person. Can I go back to bed now? lol

Fiction or nonfiction? I truly enjoy both. I do love a good suspense novel, but also appreciate biographies and funny memoirs

eBook or paperback? Probably eBooks, for the convenience. ❤️Libby.

What’s your favorite part of working at OFPL? I would say my favorite part of working at OFPL would be the opportunity to work with my co-workers. The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and each bring their own unique set of skills to make OFPL great.

If given the choice, would you prefer to spend a day with your favorite author or your favorite fictional character, and who would that author or character be? For sure my favorite author, David Sedaris. I imagine we would go for a long walk and he would tell me all about his latest taxidermy purchase.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at OFPL? The surprising thing I’ve learned about OFPL is all of the services provided, such as passports, notary, and homebound delivery to just name a few.

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be? I really admire someone that is a polyglot, I think that is an amazing skill. One day I would like to travel to other countries and it would be awesome to be able to understand and speak multiple languages.

What’s your go-to activity or hobby when you’re not at the library? Indoor activity – aside from the obvious reading, I love to cook delicious and nutritious meals. Outdoor activity – I love walking/hiking and just being in nature in general.

Thank you for joining us in Owlfred’s Corner! We hope you enjoyed getting to know Cheryl and discovering the unique talents and interests she brings to OFPL. Stay tuned for next month’s feature as we continue to highlight the amazing people who make our library such a welcoming and inspiring place. See you next time!
