Welcome to Owlfred’s Corner!
Each month, Owlfred gets the scoop on one of our incredible library staff members with a fun Q & A session. From coffee vs. tea debates to favorite books and surprising discoveries, this monthly feature is all about getting to know the people who make OFPL such a special place.
Get comfy and meet our spotlighted staff member!
This month, we’re featuring Sapna! You’ll find her working hard in Adult Services and Circulation. Originally from across the pond, Sapna recently welcomed a new puppy named Ollie. She brings her warm personality and love of reading to OFPL, helps patrons with a smile, and is a great team player who makes our library a brighter place!
Coffee or tea? Tea is my comfort every-day drink, coffee if I REALLY have to wake up!
Morning person or night owl? Morning bird!
Fiction or nonfiction? Fiction
eBook or paperback? Paperback – I love the look and feel and also physically seeing my reading progress.
Beach or Mountain Vacation? Mountains
What’s your favorite part of working at OFPL? Seeing patrons from all walks of life in one place and with that one common interest of reading a whole range of great books! Its always such a joy to watch patrons happily walk out with their pick of books – just goes to show, a trip to the library brings wonders to the soul!
If given the choice, would you prefer to spend a day with your favorite author or your favorite fictional character, and who would that author or character be? Probably a favorite author so that we can exchange thoughts on their books and they can give me some writing advice so that I can eventually start my own writing journey. I’d love to hang out with Fredrik Backman – just based on his writing & Instagram posts he seems so funny and down to earth!
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at OFPL? All the amazing programs and events OFPL has to offer – I was surprised that children can read to a dog, attend family movie nights and story time all in one place!
If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be? I’d love to be able to sing well. I love singing along to songs in the car or when no one else is around but I wouldn’t say I’m very good at singing!
What’s your go-to activity or hobby when you’re not at the library? Indoor activity – aside from the obvious reading, I love to cook delicious and nutritious meals. Outdoor activity – I love walking/ hiking and just being in nature in general.
Thank you for joining us in Owlfred’s Corner! We hope you enjoyed getting to know Sapna and discovering the unique talents and interests she brings to OFPL. Stay tuned for next month’s feature as we continue to highlight the amazing people who make our library such a welcoming and inspiring place. See you next time!
