When was the last time you thought to yourself, “Dang, I’m a pretty cool human”?
If you had to think about that for more than a few seconds, you aren’t celebrating yourself nearly enough. A little petty vanity now and then doesn’t harm anyone. You do so much work, you create so much joy (whether you know it or not), and those small-but-meaningful wins along the way are just as important – and worth celebrating – as setting goals and dreaming big.
What better way to celebrate than with one of Ashley’s favorite books of 2024 that embodies this mindset perfectly: Shitty Craft Club by Sam Reece. Ashley always has thoughts (and will gladly give you an earful of them), so let’s see what Ashley had to say about this eccentric tome:
This is the best craft book I’ve ever seen!!!! She is hilarious and makes crafts that literally anyone can do. She shows you how to glue stuff to other stuff just for fun. If you like it, then it’s good enough. My favorite craft is making a trophy for yourself out of whatever stuff you find because every day deserves a trophy.
Every day does deserve a trophy, and Sam Reece’s book captures this philosophy with humor, creativity, and a whole lot of fun. As a recovering perfectionist, I can attest: it isn’t about perfection – it’s about finding joy in the process, making something for yourself, and remembering that you are worth celebrating.
As we turn the page to a new year, let’s all take a moment to reflect on our little victories. Whether it’s a project at work, a personal milestone, or simply getting out of bed to make it through the day, those moments matter. We all deserve a metaphorical (or literal!) trophy to honor them.
So, what will you celebrate today?
