It doesn’t matter how old you are — getting to explore a fire truck is always cool!
This year, the O’Fallon Fire Rescue Department kicked off Fire Safety Week 2023 with an amazing presentation for the O’Fallon Public Library. Our preschoolers got to learn all about The Story of Sparky The Fire Dog from Deputy Fire Chief Doug Barron.

STOP! Are your smoke detector batteries fresh? Do you have an evacuation plan in place in case your home is overwhelmed by smoke or fire?
Fire prevention week happens every fall, and it’s an excellent reminder to make sure that everyone in your household is up to date on all emergency plans.
Fireman Doug kept the class engaged by playing the HOT or NOT HOT game! To no surprise, the preschoolers got 100% of the answers correct! He also educated everyone about the importance of proper kitchen safety.
Story time concluded with a tour of one of the city’s big red firetrucks and a demonstration of the gear worn by firefighters. An educational and fun time was had by all!
We celebrate the courage and effort of our firefighters who act as heroes in our lives. We are grateful, and we thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and for keeping us safe every moment of every day!
